According to industry sources, Donald Trump‘s NBC show The Apprentice” has been saved for at least one more season.

The Apprentice turned Trump into a television star and made the phrase “You’re Fired” popular, began to slide in the ratings. The show was heading for cancellation and was taken out of the 2007-8 schedule that NBC revealed in mid-May.

Sources told Reuters that NBC pans to announce the show’s renewal at an annual summer presentation to television critics on July 16.

Someone familiar with the negotiations said The Apprentice would be renewed for two more years. Another source said producers and NBC were to close to a deal to bring the show back for a seventh season including an option to renew it for an eighth season.

There has been no official news of a deal from NBC, the Trump organization or the show’s executive producer Mark Burnett. All three parties have acknowledged that negotiations on a possible return of the show were ongoing.
