TERI HATCHER received the best holiday gift ever – she’s getting her own TV series!
Pals say the Desperate Housewives star, 46, recently was given the green light for a new pilot that could be on the air by fall.
"Teri’s absolutely thrilled," a set insider told The ENQUIRER.
"She got the good news on the final day of shooting Housewives before the holiday hiatus."
Details about the project are under tight wraps, and it’s being developed as the Untitled Teri Hatcher Pilot," said the source.
"It’s going to be a dark comedy in the Housewives tradition."
It’s not a spinoff, but it will be produced by Desperate Housewives creator Marc Cherry.
Meanwhile Eva Longoria, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman currently are in salary negotiations to sign for Season 8 of Housewives.
Despite a slight dip in the ratings this year, the Sunday night diva-fest remains one of ABC’s biggest hits. The source said Teri’s co-stars "also are thrilled with the news.
"They view Teri’s pilot as a breakthrough opportunity for all of them," the source said.
