Teresa Giudice, the “Real Housewives of New Jersey” star who went to federal prison for lying on financial and tax forms, lied to her youngest children about where she was while serving her time — but insists it was in the girls’ best interests.

“I told them mommy was going to write a book,” the 43-year-old reality star told “Good Morning America” in her first live TV interview since being released from the Federal Correctional Institute in Danbury, Conn., where the diva served just over 11 months for mail, wire and tax fraud.

Teresa told “ABC News” anchor Amy Robach that while her daughters did visit her in prison, she told them the facility was a “camp” where she lived to write her book. “I had to go through the experience, and that’s what mommy was writing about,” Teresa said.

But readers of The National ENQUIRER know the real story of the couple’s dirty dealings, which earned them both prison terms and could ultimately get her Italian citizen husband, Joe Giudice, deported!

Next month, when their father, Joe, begins serving his 41-month sentence, little Audriana and Milania will get a different cover story: “When mommy comes home, then daddy is going to go to work,” Teresa explained.

The book Teresa penned while in the big house — er, we mean, “camp,” hit bookstores today. Called “Turning The Tables: From Housewife to Inmate and Back Again,” it purports to be a lurid women-behind-bars tell-all packed with raucous lesbian sex among her fellow inmates.

“I’m gonna share my whole life,” the convicted felon told Amy, calling her life “an open book.”

Just don’t let her kids read it!
