TASTELESS 9/11 AD SHOCKER

description

Days before the 8th anniversary of the September Eleventh, 2001 terror attacks on the US an inflammatory image ignites controversy all over the world!

A purported print ad for World Wildlife Fund depicted dozens of passenger airliners taking aim at Manhattan landmarks.

The ad copy reads:  "The tsunami killed 100 times more people than 9/11. The planet is brutally powerful. Respect it. Preserve it."

After being out-ed by watchdog site Adfreak.com the World Wildlife Fund issued a quick denial of purpose.

Calling the ad "offensive and tasteless" The World Wildlife Fund claimed it didn’t authorize the ad.

Allegedly, the chilling ad was created last December by a South American branch of ad giants  DDB to try and land an account with the animal rights lovers locally in Brazil.

"SUMMARILY REJECTED" was what WWF told the creative team behind the print terror concept.

DDB has responded to the international furor with many mea culpas, adding the mad men who created the ad are "no longer with the agency."

UPDATE: the agency even cut a commercial for the disturbing campaign but we’re NOT linking to it.
