SPARTACUS STAR CANCER

The star of the TV series Spartacus Blood & Sand has been diagnosed with cancer.

Andy Whitfield,
who stars in the Starz drama diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

Whitfield  begins treatment immediately in New Zealand, pushing the start of filming of the 2nd season of the sword and sandal epic back.

"I'm receiving excellent care, and am feeling strong, positive and determined with an army of support behind me," Whitfield said, also noting the cancer had been detected early and prognosis is good.

Spartacus is based on the real life slave and folk hero from the 1st century B.C. and was also the subject of the earlier film which starred Kirk Douglas.
