Italian media reports Sophia Loren says she is returning to the big screen after a near ten year absence.

Loren, 78, will reportedly star in La VoceUumana (The Human Voice) directed by Sophia’s son, Edoardo Ponti.

The story is based on a play written by the French poet and filmmaker Jean Cocteau (Beauty and the Beast).

This new version will be performed in Neapolitan dialect instead of its original French, natch.

Shooting begins later this month in in Rome, Naples and Ostia.

The last feature film Sophia starred in was for the late director Lina Wertmuller in 2002 Peperoni Ripieni e Pesci in Faccia (Too Much Romance … It’s Time For Stuffed Peppers).
