With the world at her feet, not everything was once rosy for the Latin beauty as Sofia Vergara shared that she had been diagnosed with thyroid cancer at age 28.
In a recent interview, Sofia, now 39, divulged, "I was very young. And when they tell you that word, it's like, ‘What are you talking about?'"
"You always think, ‘death.' That's all you think when they tell you that. So it was — it was pretty scary."
Sofia had taken her son to an endocrinologist who wanted to check her out as well – "and he found a lump in my neck."
Despite never having any symptoms, Sofia admitted she felt confused.
"I never felt sick … You want to be treated when you're feeling sick — when you're uncomfortable."
Sofia elaborated to Health.com, "Having cancer is not fun.
“You don't want to deal with anything else while you're going through it."
Luckily, Sofia did more than just survive – she found fame.
