American Idol judge Simon Cowell is making the move to the big screen. Cowell will produce a new music-themed film tentatively titled Star Struck, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Inspired by Fame, the movie will be set behind the scenes of a TV singing competition (like Idol) and will follow the 10 contestants trying to make it to the top. “We want it to be the musical version of Rocky — an underdog story, a feel-good film,” says Cowell.
The film will be cast through nationwide auditions similar to American Idol. Look for it to hit theaters next summer.
