"The View” co-host SHERRI SHEPHERD and her new hubby are having a baby — and they’ve decided to use a surrogate mom, sources tell The ENQUIRER.

Sherri, 44, and Lamar “Sal” Sally, 41, discussed starting a family together before they married on Aug. 13. Initially, Sal was reluctant to consider adoption or a surrogate — until Sherri revealed she had a history of miscarriages.

“Sherri has been telling Sal it would be easier for her to use a surrogate because she has had a difficult time with pregnancies in the past,” revealed a family friend.

In 2005, Sherri and then-husband Jeff Tarpley were expecting fraternal twins, a boy and a girl, but she miscarried her daughter.

Their son, Jeffrey, was born three months early and needed to spend several months in neonatal intensive care.

Besides fears of repeating that trauma, there are also financial considerations for the couple.

“If Sherri got pregnant she would probably have to be on bed rest for most of the time,” said the friend. “Since she is the only one working right now, they could not financially afford to do that.”

Sherri is also concerned that she might lose her spot on “The View” couch if she had to take so much time off. So surrogacy seems the perfect solution.

“Sal is on board with the idea and now they are starting to interview women for the job,” the friend added. “Sherri is so excited.”
