His dad, Martin Sheen, was honored by the University of Notre Dame for his humanitarian work.
The 67-year old actor/activist received the Laetare Medal, Notre Dame’s top honor.
"While acting is what I do for a living, activism is what I do to stay alive," Sheen told the graduating class of ’08.
Shenn portrayed a fictional Notre Dame alum. President Bartlett, on TV’s The West Wing series.
Sheen has been arrested multiple times, like son Charlie, but unlike his offspring, his arrests stemmed from nonviolent protests against US military policy, environmental protection and migrant works.
