Leaving “Grey’s Anatomy” is so traumatic for SANDRA OH she needed therapy!

The 42-year-old actress, who’s played surgeon Cristina Yang since the series began in 2005, recently announced she’ll leave the hit medical drama after this season.

“I’ve gone through a lot of therapy over this,” she told a reporter through tears. “I started thinking about it because I had to prepare myself. I gave myself two years to emotionally let go.”

Oh said she discussed her future with “Grey’s Anatomy” creator Shonda Rhimes at the end of last season.

“Shonda took me aside and said, ‘What are your thoughts?’ ” Oh recalled. “I said, ‘I’m ready (to leave).’ ”

A source close to the show told The ENQUIRER: “Sandra went back and forth with her therapist, trying to figure out if this was the right move. She decided it was.”

By announcing her departure, Oh said she can prepare herself for leaving the show, and the writers can develop a story line around her character’s exit.

“For the first time, at least for my character, you have an endpoint, which in series television you never or very rarely have,” she added.

Oh, who’s divorced from director Alexander Payne and was dating indie rocker Andrew Featherston of the band The Hereafter, is a critically acclaimed actress who co-starred in the Oscar-winning comedy drama, “Sideways.”

But for now, she “also wants to focus on her personal life,” said the source.

“Sandra is hoping she can spend more time working on her love life,” said the source.
