RIP TORN PLEA: NOT GUILTY

description

Rip Torn pleads not guilty to bank robbery charges.

State police charged the 79-year-old Emmy winner, 79,  on charges of attempted burglary and possession of firearms after they allegedly found an intoxicated Torn inside a Litchfield Bank in January.

Torn claimed he thought he was inside his home in Salisbury, Connecticut.

Superior Court Judge James P. Ginocchio stated Torn can remain free on $100,000 bail, under the condition that he continues to stay away from alcohol.

Torn said he was more than happy to comply while his attorney said the actor has now entered an outpatient rehabilitation program.

Torn made headlines last year after a booze-fueled high speed DUI arrest on Route 44 on the Connecticut/New York border and has had alcohol-related arrests in New York in the past.
