The OSCARS did it again – they snubbed JOAN RIVERS!

Although the pint-sized comedienne was best known for her red carpet appearance prior to the traditional Hollywood back-slapping self-congratulatory love fest, Joan did made a number of films including her debut in the Burt Lancaster starrer “The Swimmer”, John Waters’ “Serial Mom”, “The Muppets Take Manhattan” and Mel Brooks’ “Star Wars” spoof “Spaceballs”.

Joan even wrote and directed the feature “Rabbit Test” but her presence was nowhere to be seen during the telecast’s Stars We’ve Lost memorial tribute.

Also missing in action was vet thesp Elaine Stritch whose early film creds include “Three Violent People” with Charlton Heston and Ann Baxter and the remake of “A Farewell to Arms” with Rock Hudson. More recently, Elaine had appeared in several Woody Allen films including “Small Time Crooks”.

If their absence wasn’t enough to light up the Twitterverse also snubbed in the Oscar montage remembrance wise was 007 villain Richard “Jaws” Kiel, Gottfried John, Taylor Negron, Jan ("Pee Wee's Big Adventure") Hooks  and “The Vanishing” director George Sluizer.

The clip fest was intro’d by perennial Oscar winner Meryl Streep.

The Academy did finally include Joan in the full list posted on their website but only after getting throttled by social media.
