PATRICK MCGOOHAN DEAD

description

TV legend Patrick McGoohan aka The Prisoner at 80.

McGoohan died in Los Angeles after a brief illness.

The iconoclastic 60s rebel redefined TV storytelling with The Prisoner an indie show he produced, wrote and starred in about an ex-spy known only as Number Six who refuses to knuckle under to the metaphoric powers that be — The Village.

Patrick also starred as John Drake in the long running espionage  series prior to his own creation, Secret Agent aka Danger Man.  You probably know the theme song "Secret Agent Man" by Johnny Rivers.

McGoohan won a pair of Emmys as a baddie on Columbo starring Peter Falk.

McGoohan starred in a series of Hollywood hits including Escape From Alcatraz with Clint Eastwood and more recently Braveheart with Mel Gibson.
