Pat Harrington, Jr. — beloved as building superintendent Dwayne Schneider on “One Day At A Time” — passed away on January 6 at the age of 86.

The ENQUIRER revealed in December that the beloved star of “One Day At A Time” had been secretly battling brain-robbing Alzheimer’s disease!

“My father is succumbing to Alzheimer’s,” his devastated daughter, Tresa, said at the time.

“He is physically and mentally disintegrating. I weep, knowing he is not long on this earthly plane.”

Tresa also revealed that the star — who played building superintendent Dwayne Schneider on the show that aired from 1975 to 1984 — had a nasty fall in early November.

He suffered a small brain hemorrhage and spent three weeks in a hospital and nursing home. “

Now he can barely eat,” a source told The ENQUIRER in December.

“His swallowing mechanism isn’t functioning so well, and he can’t eat solid food.”

Pat (pictured here in 2012 with “Day” costar Bonnie Franklin, who’d pass the next year)  had four kids with first wife, Marjorie Ann Gortner, before divorcing in 1985 after 30 years of marriage.

He wed second wife Sally Cleaver in 2001 after dating for 16 years.

Pat originally became a star as part of Steve Allen’s troupe on the original “Tonight Show,” where he joined future comic legends like Don Knotts and Tom Poston.

Then he enjoyed a whole new level of success as Schneider on “One Day at a Time” — eventually winning an Emmy for his work on the series.

Pat later reunited with “One Day” costar Valerie Bertinelli for her show “Hot In Cleveland” in 2012.

The guest turn would be his final acting appearance.
