Paris Hilton has officially begun serving her jail sentence for probation violation. The Simple Life star surrendered to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s officials Sunday night at the Men’s Central Jail in downtown L.A.
Hilton was booked at 11:38 pm, shortly after she left the MTV Movie Awards — her last red carpet event for a while. The heiress is expected to serve at least 23 days in the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood.
“I am ready to face the consequences of violating probation,” Paris said in a statement. “During the past few weeks, I have had a lot of time to think and have come to realize I made some mistakes.”
“This is an important point in my life and I need to take responsibility for my actions,” she added. “In the future, I plan on taking more of an active role in the decisions I make. I want to thank my family, friends and fans for their continued support. Although I am scared, I am ready to begin my jail sentence.”
