PARIS HILTON: OUT OF JAIL, NOW ON HOUSE ARREST

description

Paris Hilton is out of jail and has been reassigned to house arrest! Paris will have to wear an electronic monitoring device on her ankle for 40 days. Paris received five days credit for her time in jail despite the fact that she was there for only three full days for her sentence for probation violation. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s department said Paris was processed out of jail at 2:09 am on Thursday, June 7, after striking a deal due to medical issues. For privacy issues, the Sheriff’s Department could not address the specific medical cause.

Paris released a statement saying, "I want to thank the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department and staff of the Century Regional Detention Center for treating me fairly and professionally. I am going to serve the remaining 40 days of my sentence. I have learned a great deal from this ordeal and hope that others have learned from my mistakes."

Paris’ reassignment drew criticism from Los Angeles City Attorney Rocky Delgadillo, who said in a statement that he was “troubled” to learn that the Sheriff’s Department had released Paris just three full days into her jail sentence.

“My office was not advised of this action. We learned of it this morning through news reports, just like everyone else. Had we been provided with the proper notification, we would have opposed the decision on legal grounds,” said Delgadillo in the statement. “News reports indicate that the Sheriff’s Department released Ms. Hilton to house arrest due to a medical condition. This explanation is puzzling. Los Angeles county jail medical facilities are well-equipped to deal with medical situations involving inmates.”
