Drug-troubled Zac Efron’s summer romance with twice-jailed actress Michelle Rodriguez has pals worried that his sobriety is at stake.
With Michelle’s long history of drinking and partying, friends are urging Zac, 26, to stay away from the “Fast & Furious” hell-raiser.
Michelle, 36, proudly proclaimed her lifestyle on a t-shirt that read “Sex Drugs & Rap” while yachting with Zac off the Spanish island of Ibiza.
“Zac should not be hanging out with Michelle, and he certainly shouldn’t be partying with her in Ibiza,” a source close to the former “High School Musical” star told The National ENQUIRER. “That’s just a recipe for disaster. The nightclubs in Ibiza are awash in drugs, specifically cocaine and Ecstasy!”
As the ENQUIRER reported exclusively in October 2013, Zac passed out in his New York City hotel suite after hours of drinking and abusing drugs, a source said. The “17 Again” actor overdosed on the powerful painkiller oxycodone – known on the streets as “hillbilly heroin” – and other guests had to revive him.
Zac had also reportedly experimented with “Molly,” a pure form of the MDMA found in Ecstasy tablets. The actor’s drug and booze problems reportedly “spiraled out of control” while he was filming the raunchy comedy “Neighbors” with Seth Rogen.
As The ENQUIRER has documented, Michelle – who played a boxer in her breakout film “Girlfight” in 2000 – has struggled with her own problems. In 2005, she and “Lost” co-star Cynthia Watros were busted on separate DUI charges within minutes of one another. Michelle served time in Los Angeles.
Insiders said “Lost” producers cut Michelle’s character because of the actress’ behavior, including photos of her in lesbian clinches and downing shots in clubs. Zac was first spotted with Michelle kissing in Sardinia in July, immediately worrying his fans because both have been in rehab.
The source said: “Zac needs to leave Michelle and that partying lifestyle behind, pronto!”
