PALS HELP JOY BEAT CANCER

The View presenter Joy Behar has survived a terrifying cancer nightmare — with the help of her television co-hosts.

“No one wants to hear the word ‘cancer’ — and Joy was a nervous wreck leading up to surgery,” a source told The National Enquirer. “But her co-hosts rallied around her — especially Meredith Vieira whose husband battled colon cancer and was declared cancer-free in 2000.

“The hosts have also been very active in promoting early breast-cancer detection and awareness of the disease.

“As a group, Meredith, Barbara Walters and Star Jones encouraged her, and literally held her hand as the surgery approached. They told her to lean on them — and at the same time told her they were sure she’d be fine.”

Docs recently told Behar, 61, that a cyst on one of her ovaries looked suspicious and they wanted to make sure it was not a cancerous tumor. Experts say it’s nearly impossible to tell benign ovarian tumors from malignant ones without actually removing and examining the ovaries.

Behar said on the show after returning August 1: “Everything is fine, everything benign.”

Joy also credited her longtime boyfriend, Steve Janowitz, with helping her through the nightmare. “Oh my God,” she said. “I have to marry this man!”
