UPDATE: Oprah responds to Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich‘s claim he wanted her to fill Obama‘s Senate seat
Blago now says he wanted the talk show titan for the job of Senator from Illinois after being accused of trying to sell the seat.
"She seemed to be someone who had helped Barack Obama in a significant way become President," Blago demurred during a live interview on Good Morning America.
"And, then, we talked about if you offered it to her, how would you do it in a way that it didn’t look like some gimmick and embarrass her."
Worse yet – what if the corpulent chatty Cathy had said no? Or failed rigorous vetting …
Blago’s bizarre disclosure came as the Illinois Senate began its impeachment of the two term Dem. Governor.
Instead of attending his own trial, boastful Blago is in NY on a whirlwind media tour – later he’ll be on The View and then he’ll be cabbing uptown to interface with Larry King on the west coast via satellite.
