OBAMA GOLF ADDICTION TO BLAME FOR FAILED PRESIDENCY?

Critics charge that OBAMA’s addiction to putting has sapped his potency as leader of the free world.

Gawker.com laments that Obama fooled everyone with his “everyman” act – comic book fan boy, b-ball enthusiast, Blackberry obsession and closet cigarette smoker, hinting that his devotion to the 18-hole “lazy man” game is the real culprit.

Of course, they’re riffing on a Washington Post column by Edward Alden, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations.

Alden write that Obama used to play basketball at least once a week with his former BFF bodyguard and Duke player Reggie Love and former Harvard B-baller the 6 ft. 5 inch Education Secretary Arne Duncan in street-style pickup games.

Now, Alden charges, Obama plays a lazy man’s game – golf.

“Golf requires a Zen-like acceptance that the results are largely out of your hands. Relax, hit the ball and don’t worry much about where it goes.”

Not like basketball which is played with “hustle, determination and teamwork.”

And for a closet smoker like Obama it’s far tougher to run up and down on asphalt, bounce a ball, play defense, attempt a fade away jumper in a no-holds-barred hoops match against much younger men.

In golf, you ride around in a cart, you stop, get out, your caddy hands you a putter, you make a birdie or not and that’s it. The critics may have a point.
