Katie Holmes back in NY and without Tom and Suri!

The raven haired beauty, 30, was back in the Big Apple with a fresh faced look -not unlike her Dawson Creek "Joey" days with hubby Tommy Scientolo nowhere to be seen.

Katie was in town to support the 30th anniversary of the Independent Film Project at the Cooper Square Hotel after a sudden pit stop in hometown of Toledo, Ohio, where she sadly attended the funeral of older sister Tamera's husband, Joseph Fretti, who passed away after a heart attack last week.

It was a rare night solo for the Thetan enhanced trophy mother of Suri who recently turned three.

And without Tom around she was able to wear a tres chic Alexander McQueen silk halter-neck AND sky high Givenchy gladiator heels without embarrassing her height challenged hubby.
