NICOLE RICHIE’s desperate husband Joel Madden is demanding that the scarily skinny celebrity move with him to Australia for two reasons – to fatten her up and to keep her away from the clutches of Kardashian momager Kris Jenner, a source says.
The Good Charlotte rocker is said to be concerned about Nicole’s weight. Although she previously denied seeking treatment for an eating disorder, as The ENQUIRER reported, the 5-foot-1 star has dropped seven pounds in two months to hit a frightening low of 87 pounds.
What’s more, a source says Joel hopes the move Down Under – while he works on Australia’s version of “The Voice” – will keep his wife far away from Jenner, who he fears will manipulate his wife for personal business gains.
“Joel wants Nicole and their kids (daughter Harlow, 6, and son Sparrow, 4) under one roof,” revealed an insider.
“He doesn’t want Nicole alone, unmonitored in Los Angeles, where she’ll no doubt be tempted to go out partying.”
Nicole, 32, has battled health issues in the past, and in November she shocked onlookers at the American Music Awards with her emaciated frame.
“Nicole is on the go all the time and tends to forget to eat,” said the source
“She doesn’t look after her health when Joel isn’t staying on top of things.
“He has been insisting that Nicole put on 10 pounds before he heads to Australia, but that hasn’t happened. He’s not comfortable working long hours on the other side of the world while not being able to monitor her situation.
“Joel’s thinking is if she is with him, she won’t be in ‘work mode’ and will eat local fattening foods, like meat pies and sausage rolls.”
Joel has been a coach on the Aussie “Voice” since it premiered in April 2012. Last season, when Nicole stayed back home, she complained it was difficult to look after their youngsters by herself, said the source.
Relocating to Australia to be by Joel’s side will not only make life easier on Nicole but also accomplish her husband’s goal of prying her free from Jenner.
The two longtime friends have gotten particularly close lately, and in mid-January, the women posted a short, bizarre music video, performing a spoof version of Salt-N-Pepa’s 1993 classic “Shoop.”
Wearing gangster-style baseball caps, Nicole and 58-year-old Kris clowned around for the camera while bellowing the lyric: “What’s my weakness? Men!”
Joel, 34, blasted the video as “tacky and lame,” a source says.
Even more worrisome, added an insider: “Joel learned the two women were talking about teaming up on business ventures. Joel sees Kris as a witch and wants Nicole to keep her distance.”
Having Nicole follow him to Australia, said the source: “is his way of heading off any future problems.”
