Attorneys for Nick Gordon — boyfriend of the late Bobbi Kristina Brown —demanded that authorities declare her death accidental and dispel the cloud of suspicion that has settled over Nick since Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub in their home a year ago.

In a statement released today, the lawyers painted Nick as a victim of the tragedy, saying that after 13 months, the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office has failed to acknowledge there was no wrongdoing, leaving him open to suspicion.

“In essence, [the DA’s office] helped feed the slanderous media frenzy regarding Nick Gordon. Frankly, the right thing for the District Attorney’s office to do right now is to tell the public the truth… that this was an accident… or even a suicide, but not a murder.”

After being discovered facedown in a tub of cold water in the townhome she shared with Nick in January 2015, Bobbi Kristina spent months in a medically-induced coma and died last summer without ever regaining consciousness.

When Bobbi Kristina was discovered, police credited Nick with attempting to revive her by performing CPR.

“The truth is that Nick tried to save Bobbi Kristina’s life,” according to the statement. “The truth is that Nick cooperated with law enforcement since day one. The truth is that no one loved Bobbi Kristina more than Nick and no one has suffered more as a result of her death than Nick.

“On top of being prohibited from visiting Bobbi Kristina at the hospital for the last six months of her life, Nick has been publicly humiliated for more than a year,” the statement from attorneys Jose Baez and Joe S. Habachy added.

Bobbi Kristina’s autopsy was sealed at the request of the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, but a judge ruled the public had a right to know what was in the report and ordered it unsealed last week.

“The Fulton County District Attorney’s office has tried to make Nick a murderer despite having clear and convincing evidence that Bobbi Kristina’s death was nothing more than a tragic accident,” concludes the statement. “And the right thing for everyone to do is let Nick live his life now and let Bobbi Kristina rest in peace.”
