The countdown is on — Julia Roberts plans to be pregnant by the new year!

“The Pretty Woman” star and her cameraman husband Danny Moder will start the in vitro fertilization process within the next month and hope to be expecting by early January, say sources close to the couple.

“They’re shooting for another boy-girl set of twins just like Hazel and Phinnaeus,” said a family friend. “And they want them as soon as possible.”

According to the friend, Julia, who turns 39 on Oct. 28, and Danny, 37, will again use preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD), the controversial and costly procedure that can enable parents to influence the sex of their children.

“Julia turned to preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) simply because it’s been shown to reduce the risk of pregnancy loss in women who are older and who, like her, have had trouble conceiving in the past,” continued the friend.

“It is a side benefit that could choose whether the baby is a boy or a girl.”
