New TV "Bachelor" Juan Pablo Galavis has a shocking secret he's hiding from fans. Documents obtained by The ENQUIRER expose him as a deadbeat dad who was forced by the courts to pay back child support!
The surprising news paints a far different picture of the 32-year-old hunk than the one he's been presenting to the public. According to his official "Bachelor" bio, Juan Pablo resigned from his professional soccer career with Miami FC in 2008 after receiving the life-changing news that his then-girlfriend, Latina actress Carla Rodriguez, was pregnant.
"Refusing to be an absentee father, Juan Pablo put his dream of soccer aside to focus on a more important goal, raising his daughter, Camila Valentina Galavis," the bio states.
"Juan Pablo took his responsibility as a new father seriously and began a new career in sports and entertainment consulting. Despite the success at his new career, Juan Pablo and Carla came to a realization that after two years, sadly, they were not meant to stay together."
But The ENQUIRER has uncovered court documents that show the blue-eyed heartthrob was ordered by a judge to pay back child support in May 2011 — more than two years after his daughter was born!
The Florida Department of Revenue's Child Support enforcement Program slapped Juan Pablo with an income deduction order, requiring employers to automatically deduct $243.94 per month for child support, plus $49.00 per month for retroactive child support until the outstanding balance of $3,574.57 was paid.
The court papers further indicate that Carla had either asked for help obtaining support or had received public assistance for little Camila. Juan Pablo became a fan favorite during his courtship of Desiree Hartsock on the last season of "The Bachelorette."
Although Desiree sent him packing following their dates in Barcelona, Spain, Juan Pablo was chosen to return as "The Bachelor" when ABC's 18th season of the hit reality dating competition debuts on Jan. 5.
"Juan Pablo has been hoping that news of his court-ordered child support didn't get out because he doesn't want 'Bachelor' fans finding out he's not the perfect father he portrays himself to be," a source revealed. "His 'Bachelor' bio glazes right over all the domestic issues that Juan and Carla have had over the years, but they've had their fair share of heated run-ins."
Despite their sometimes rocky past, the former couple now seem to be on good terms. Carla has been posting on the Internet links to articles about Juan Pablo's upcoming stint as "The Bachelor."
"While Juan and Carla don't always see eye to eye," said the source, "they're both loving parents who want only the best for Camila."
