NEIL PATRICK HARRIS is pulling out all the stops to help an old high school pal who’s now a contestant on “The Voice” – even though that show is walloping his sitcom in the ratings!

The Emmy-winning actor, who plays womanizer Barney Stinson on CBS’ “How I Met Your Mother,” recently gave a shout-out on his Twitter page to Tony Vincent, a Broadway singer competing on this season of the NBC vocal competition show.

“If you watch The Voice …root for 1 of my high school best friends,” the actor tweeted.

Neil and Tony, 38, both starred in musicals at Albuquerque’s La Cueva High School, including a school production of Neil Simon’s classic show “The Odd Couple.”

While Neil, 38, went on to make it big in Hollywood, Tony has appeared on stage in the musicals “Rent” and “American Idiot.”

During the blind audition portion of “The Voice,” rocker Tony wowed the coaches’ panel with his performance of Queen’s “We Are the Champions” and landed a spot on Cee Lo Green’s team. He says he and Neil have kept in touch throughout the years.

“Tony is extremely grateful for all of Neil’s support and friendship over the years – especially in light of the fact that ‘The Voice’ handily beats ‘How I Met Your Mother,’ ” a source told The ENQUIRER.

“The Voice” drew just over 16 million viewers on Feb. 20 while “How I Met Your Mother” notched 9.8 million.

And Neil isn’t Tony’s only famous fan. “Glee” star Lea Michele is also showing him the love on Twitter.

“It’s great that I’m getting that endorsement,” said Tony. “It’s a humbling experience.”
