NBC NEWS FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT RICHARD ENGEL MISSING IN SYRIA?

NBC NEWS forgeign correspondent RICHARD ENGEL is believed missing in war-torn Syria – reports.

According to news reports out of Turkey, NBC News chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel has disappeared in Syria.

The reports also claim that a Turkish journalist working with Engel, Aziz Akyavaş, is also reported unaccounted for.

According to Gawker.com,  NBC News successfully kept Engel's missing status on lockdown for the past 24 hours. But now, the reports are out, igniting international concern for the Peacocok Net’s foreign correspondent.

The Turkish tab Hurriyet reports that Engel and Akyavaş were last known to be in Syria and haven't been in contact with NBC News since Thursday morning.

The Turkish reports have been widely distributed on Twitter via such notables as The  Slate's David Weigel, Michelle Malkin, former MSNBC anchor David Shuster and others, Gawker noted.

Engel last reported from Syria December, 11th.
