MTV HOST KEN OBER DEAD

Ken Ober, the host of MTV Remote Control, dead at 52.

His management at Brillstein Entertainment confirmed the late writer/comedian’s death after rumors swept the internet.  The cause of death is as yet unknown.

Ober received national exposure as a contestant on Star Search reaching the semifinals when MTV hired him in 1987 to host their  irreverent game show Renote Control.
 
The show helped launched the careers of Adam Sandler, Colin Quinn and Dennis Leary.

"I remember the first time it hit me," Ober said.

"I was in a supermarket line reading TV Guide and it said ‘Ken Ober, comma, TV game show host.’

"And I said, ‘Oh, no, I’m a game show host.’ "

After Remote Control was canceled Ober had a brief acting career in such TV series as Parenthood and Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Later Ober returned to writing and worked on Mind of Menacia and The New Adventures of Old Christine.

An autopsy is planned.
