How Oscar winning Meryl Streep exacted her revenge!
Meryl landed an audition back in 1975 with legendary Italian producer Dino De Laurentis for the lead in his remake of film classic King Kong. He was not impressed with her looks.
"He said to his son, who organized the meeting, ‘She’s ugly!’ " Streep recalled. "Why did you bring me this thing!"
What the megalomaniac didn’t realize was that Streep spoke Italian fluently!
"He didn’t realize I’d just graduated and studied Italian 105," Meryl chuckled.
"When I replied in Italian, he looked like he had been shot."
The Kong role went to newbie Jessica Lange who later joined Meryl Streep in the Oscar winner’s circle for Frances.
