MELROSE PLACE EVICTS ASHLEE

description

Out with the new, in with the old – Ashlee out, Heather Locklear back IN

Ashlee Simpson-Wentz has been canned from new Melrose Place re-do and despite the spin put on her departure by the CW that her stay was intended to be a short one, sources say she was canned. AND her character murdered.

Exec producer Todd Slavkin spun, "We felt that once the murder mystery was resolved, the tone of the show was going to shift into a much more fun, romantic sexy upbeat kind of show, and [her] character would move on."

Slavkin also said the shift was intended from the very start as Colin Eggsfield was also given the old heave-ho.

Meanwhile industry insiders have said that Ashlee was axed because she wasn’t clicking with the show’s young viewers and that the producers kept a close eye on message boards and fan posting on the internet.

One viewer told THE ENQUIRER, "Did you ever see the show? She can’t act to save her life!"

Heather Locklear, the original queen bee, who created sexual havoc in the original Melrose Place is making her triumphant return with the Nov. 17 episode.
