TALK about a Lowe blow!

Melissa Gilbert is blasting her former fiance Rob Lowe’s new memoir, “Love Life.”

In fact, the former “Little House on the Prairie” star scoffs on Facebook that the Dr. Seuss classic “Green Eggs and Ham” was “more dense and thought provoking” than Rob’s latest effort.

But the source adds that Melissa, 50, still has an ax to grind from Rob’s last book, “Stories I Only Tell My Friends: An Autobiography,” which came out in 2011.

“Reading about how he cheated on her with the beautiful, exotic actress Nastassja Kinski in 1983 while working together on ‘The Hotel New Hampshire’ reopened a lot of old wounds,” the source explained.

In that book, Rob, 50, who dated Melissa for five years in the ’80s, wrote: “Clearly (the affair) also meant the end of my already hot-and-cold long-distance romance with Melissa. And although we would be in each other’s lives off and on for some time, it would never be the same.”

That, apparently, set off Melissa.

“She was furious,” the source said. “She’d really opened up in the past about her feelings for Rob, but she felt that, in return, he gave her short-shrift.

“In his first book, he didn’t even mention they were engaged. And in his current book, Rob didn’t mention her at all.”

Melissa married writer Bo Brinkman in 1988, just seven weeks after her split from Rob, but the union only lasted until 1992. Three years later, she tied the knot with Bruce Boxleitner, but that marriage also ended in divorce, in 2012. Now, the actress is wed to actor/director Timothy Busfield, and the two seem happy living in rural Michigan.

“Looking back now, Melissa’s glad she never married Rob because it would have only meant more heartbreak,” noted the source. “And, if his books are any indication, she thinks he’s shallow, too.”
