The “Today” host, MATT LAUER, has admitted he and long-suffering wife Annette Roque lead separate lives!
“It’s a secret separation,” a family source claimed to The National ENQUIRER. “It’s the only reason they’re still married!”
In a recent magazine interview, Matt described life on the couple’s 40-acre horse farm in the Hamptons as a “dream come true.”
But then Matt, 57, let slip that while Annette, 49, and the couple’s three children have lived there for four years, he stays in Manhattan – and only visits on weekends!
“Annette has her horses and the kids out in the Hamptons, while Matt has his own life in the city,” the family source noted. “It’s not perfect, but it’s an arrangement that suits them.”
As The ENQUIRER reported in March, Annette’s family has serious concerns about her.
A family friend, Nils Fonteijn, told The ENQUIRER Matt’s in-laws remain “deeply upset at the continuing strife in Annette’s marriage, and her mother is frantic with worry.”
We also reported that Matt “walked out” on Annette last summer before “begging” her to reunite for the sake of their kids – Jack, 14, Romy, 11, and Thijs, 8.
A “bitter fight” sparked their latest split after The ENQUIRER published photos of the notorious womanizer relaxing on a boat with a mystery blonde in the Hamptons in July 2014.
“This caused a tremendous new strain in their marriage,” said a source. “Annette felt abandoned again.”
