MARVEL MAGNATE STAN LEE SUED FOR $750 MILLION

description

Media titan Stan Lee and Marvel head sued by shareholders.

A federal lawsuit filed yesterday, concerns profits from blockbuster super-hero films Spider-Man, Iron Man, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four and the X-Men – all of which Stan The Man co-created while heading up the Marvel Comics Group. The suit also names former Marvel Studio chief Avi Arad.

The lawsuit alleges Lee signed a deal with Marvel that is preventing shareholders of Stan Lee Media (a separate company) of getting 50 percent ownership rights in Lee’s Marvel characters, NY tab The Daily News reported.

Marvel Entertainment told the BBC the contents of the suit are rife with “ridiculous claims.”

The usually jocular Stan Lee (nee Leiber) has been surprisingly mum.

Oh what a tangled web we weave…

POP FYI: The Amazing Spider-Man was co-created by Lee and artist Steve Ditko. Spidey first appeared in Amazing Fantasy 15 in 1962.
