MADONNA’S ADOPTION OF ORPHAN CHALLENGED

description

Madonna adoption of Malawi orphan David Banda is in jeopardy again.

At issue is Malawi’s minister for Women and Child Development, Kate Kainja, who refuses to let the country’s Child Welfare Services director Penstone Kilembe visit London and check in on David, who Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, have been in the process of adopting for over a year.

Kainja accuses that Madonna paid for Kilembe’s travel fares without the government’s approval.

“We have already contacted Madonna that someone else and not Kilembe will come to asses her, because we feel Mr. Kilembe personalized the whole issue when other people can go,” the Minister told the Malawi News.

But Kilembe dismissed suggestions that he personally asked Madonna for an airplane ticket. “What this means is that the whole adoption process may crumble and David sent back to his village,” he told Reuters.

Though this may jeopardize Madonna’s chances of gaining full custody of David, nothing will be certain until Malawi judges rule on the matter next year.
