TV’s 2nd Lone Ranger, John Hart, dead at 91.

John first replaced Clayton Moore for the 3rd season of the Lone Ranger TV show and then was replaced by Moore who is best known in the role of the masked man.

Hart had battled dementia years and passed away at his home in Rosarito Beach, Mexico, his daughter confirmed to LoneRangerfanclub.com

A native of California, Hart launched his Hollywood career in the first version of Cecil B. DeMille’s
1938 swashbuckler The Buccaneer.

After serving in the U.S. Army during WW2, he played the title role of Jack Armstrong: The All-American Boy in 1947 and then filled in for Moore as The Lone Ranger for 52 eps after a contract dispute.

He also played James Fenimore Cooper‘s pioneer hero in the series Hawkeye and the Last of the Mohicans with costar Lon Chaney Jr.
 
Hart later donned the mask and silver bullets in an ep of The Greatest American Hero in 1981 and met the Fonz on Happy Days.

Some of his Hart’s many TV credits include Dallas, Bat Masterson, Rawhide with Clint Eastwood and I Love Lucy.
