LATEST update 10:00 PM EST: The ENQUIRER has learned that on Friday night, LIZ TAYLOR‘s breathing was so compromised that doctors put her on a respirator.
"She was fighting for every breath," a family friend told THE ENQUIRER exclusively.
"They had to put her on a respirator. The children from out of town are on their way. Two are already at her bedside keeping vigil. Right now it doesn’t look good.
"She’s in God’s hands."

When media outlets such as ABC News went to Morrison this morning to confirm our report, Morrison denied Liz was hospitalized. But several hours later, the publicist came clean to admit Liz is indeed hospitalized.
Here’s the official statement from Morrison in Los Angeles: "Elizabeth Taylor was hospitalized earlier this week when she was taken to Cedars Sinai suffering from symptoms caused by congestive heart failure, an ongoing condition. This issue is being addressed. She is currently being kept in the hospital for monitoring. Her family and close friends are appreciative of the warm support and interest of her loyal fans but have asked that people respect her privacy and allow her medical team the time and space to focus on restoring her back to health."

The 78-year-old two-time Oscar winner began suffering from intense abdominal pain, Tuesday, Feb. 8, and doctors suspect she is bleeding internally, a well-placed source confirmed.
The actress was transported by ambulance that day from her Bel-Air home to Cedars Sinai Medical Center where she remains in critical condition.
“Elizabeth is very sick. Her children are with her,” the friend told the ENQUIRER.
“She’s in critical condition.
"Everyone close to her is praying.”
