British beauty Liz Hurley says she feels safer in the USA than she does back home in England.

The "Austin Powers" star says she sees cops everywhere in New York City, but rarely spots one in the streets of London, and the lack of protection makes her feel "extremely nervous.

"We definitely need a stronger police presence," the worried actress told an interviewer. "It's rare to see them at all now. In America uniformed cops eat in coffee shops, diners and restaurants, and I always feel safer having them around."

The new mom, who was mugged at knifepoint eight years ago, advised other nervous Nellies to wear tennis shoes and "run as fast as possible if you feel in danger."
