Sarah Palin’s family members are at each other’s throats – because of the nasty new allegations being hurled by Levi Johnston, father of her grandchild Tripp.
While the charges have stirred controversy – and supporters of the former Alaska governor are outraged – Levi’s younger sister Mercede Johnston told The ENQUIRER in an exclusive interview: "I stand by what my brother says."
In one bombshell, 19-year-old Levi charged that the former vice presidential candidate wanted him and her daughter Bristol to take part in a shocking cover-up after learning Bristol was pregnant with his baby.
While the claim sparked immediate reaction, Levi’s sister insists: "It’s absolutely true that Sarah asked Levi and Bristol to give up the baby, and she wanted to cover up the whole thing by having her and her husband Todd adopt the baby.
"This should show the public that this woman was not fit to be the vice president – she’s a liar and a manipulator. Her (plan) was calculating, devious and irresponsible."
In a scorching account in Vanity Fair magazine, Levi also confirmed what The ENQUIRER reported during last year’s campaign – that Palin’s marriage was rocked by cheating charges.
Levi claims the couple engaged in screaming matches, and that Todd often brought up divorce – and hid his drinking from Sarah.
In yet another shocker, Levi says Bristol "thought that Todd was having an affair with a friend of the family.
"At one point, Bristol heard that Todd tried to separate his bank account from Sarah’s, and she told Sarah."
Ripping the lid off the baby scandal, he says in the interview: "Sarah kept mentioning this plan. She was nagging – she wouldn’t give up."
The young couple flatly refused to take part in the conspiracy.
But when Levi went public in the magazine, "it was like he exploded a grenade," says a friend of the former hockey-playing hunk.
"Levi threw Bristol right into the middle of her parents’ fighting.
"You now have Todd angry at Sarah – and BOTH of them upset with Bristol.
"Sarah was red hot over everything – that Bristol thought Todd was cheating and never told her, and also that Bristol would call her crazy for wanting to adopt Tripp."
Concludes Johnston’s friend: "If Levi’s succeeded at one thing, he’s ignited a bitter new family feud inside Sarah’s household."
