Lesbian fans of TV's "Rizzoli & Isles" are threatening to boycott the TNT cop drama unless the show's leading ladies lock lips — even though the characters are not gay!
And that's got whiskey-voiced actress ANGIE HARMON riled up.
"It was like, 'We're not going to watch your show because you won't write them making out,'" an indignant Angie — who plays Boston detective Jane Rizzoli to co-star SASHA ALEXANDER's medical examiner Maura Isles — recently told a reporter.
What's more, Angie — Who's happily married to former NFL cornerback JASON SEHORN and mother to their three daughters — is ticked off that the show's lesbian fans imagine that she wears the pants in the TV relationship.
And she's admitted the series adds to the "maybe they're lesbians" confusion by putting her character in clothes typically worn by female detectives — manly pants and sensible shoes.
"Angie's fed up that other women — especially gay women — see her as being butch," said a source close to the show. "And she doesn't like being seen as the 'husband' in her relationship with Sasha. It irritates her to no end!"
Despite that, Angie, 41, and Sasha, 40, are well aware that the series attracts a lesbian audience.
"Truthfully, the show plays up to those fans," said the source. "Rizzoli and Isles often gaze longingly at each other or make jokes about how people think they're a couple. As far as Angie's concerned, the only problem is that she doesn't want to be seen as a manly-woman.
"When one internet website dubbed her 'Angie Hormone,' she didn't like it. She said, 'Sorry, I am not Angie Hormone.'"
