Larry Birkhead, who was declared the biological father of Anna Nicole Smith‘s baby Dannielynn, said that there is no need to share custody of the child with Anna’s mother Virgie Arthur should she decide to file for dual guardianship.
“It would imply that I’m unfit as a parent, which I’m not,” Birkhead told the Today show’s Meredith Vieira in an exclusive interview from the Bahamas. “We might go from one fight to another, but I’m hoping that’s not the case because, you know, there’s only one dad, and I have no problem with anyone that has good intentions being allowed to visit the baby and see the baby and be a part of the baby’s life.”
A hearing is scheduled for Friday to determine who will get custody of the 7-month-old.
Birkhead told Vieira he had seen Dannielynn and that he looks forward to seeing lots more of her. “We’re just trying to work out the best arrangement where there’s a [smooth] transition.”
