KRIS JENNER had a terrifying cancer scare after she was rushed to the hospital, frightened and in pain, on April 16.
With estranged husband Bruce Jenner by her side, the 58-year-old Kardashian family matriarch underwent tests, X-rays and scans “for precautionary reasons” at Los Robles Hospital in Thousand Oaks, Calif., near her home, a source told The ENQUIRER.
“Kris’ first thought was that her pains were somehow related to cancer,” the source continued. “She was dreading the doctor’s diagnosis.”
As The ENQUIRER reported in 2012, Kris is convinced her family’s medical history – which includes her mom’s colon cancer – has doomed her to an early grave.
But now, insiders say former sun-worshipper Kris is “paranoid” about getting skin cancer after Bruce underwent another round of surgery in September to have a big chunk of tissue removed from his nose.
“Kris is at that dangerous age when her years of sun-tanning are starting to catch up with her,” a family insider told The ENQUIRER. “She’s worried sick about the state of her skin, especially around her decollete and knees, but she also has several mole-type spots on her back that she’s extremely worried about.
“She gets them checked all the time and docs say she’s fine, but that hasn’t stopped her from freaking out about it. There’s no doubt she’s at risk from skin cancer.”
Meanwhile, medical experts say she’s also at risk for other cancers because her mom, 80-year-old Mary Jo Shannon, has battled both breast and colon cancer. And due to a possible genetic link, Mary Jo says that Kris’ daughters, even the youngest, Kendall and Kylie, have been advised that they’re at a heightened risk of getting the disease so they can be screened regularly.
But, for now, it’s the thought of developing the skin variety that scares her most.
“Kris refuses to go out without 30-plus sunblock and she no longer uses a tanning bed,” the source added. “These days, she sticks to twice-weekly spray tans.”
