“EPSTEIN” ROBERT HEGYES who starred on “Welcome Back, Kotter,” with JOHN TRAVOLTA has died at age 60.

Hegyes suffered an apparent heart attack at his Metuchen, New Jersey home.

By the time emergency personnel transported him to JFK Medical Center, he was in full cardiac arrest and died, a hospital spokesperson confirmed.

Hegyes  also co-starred on “Cagney & Lacey” among other TV shows of the 1970s and 1980s including “NewsRadio.”

But it was Epstein that Hegyes secured his fame in pop cult as one of the high school funny punks known as the Sweathogs on “Welcome Back, Kotter.” Hegyes and nearly all of the original cast members reunited last year at the TV Land Awards to recognize the show's 35th anniversary.
