KIEFER SUTHERLAND TO DO JAIL TIME

description

24‘s Kiefer Sutherland pleaded no contest Tuesday to drunken driving charges and agreed to do 48 days of jail time — 30 days for last month’s DUI charge, and an additional 18 days for violating his probation stemming from a 2004 drunken driving case.

Sutherland is expected to begin his sentence in the county jail on Dec. 21, when 24 takes a winter hiatus from production. The star will also enroll in an 18-month alcohol-education class and attend weekly alcohol-therapy sessions for six months, as part of the arrangement.

“I’m very disappointed in myself for the poor judgment I exhibited recently, and I’m deeply sorry for the disappointment and distress this has caused my family, friends and co-workers on 24 and at 20th Century Fox,” Sutherland said in a statement.
