Senator Edward M. Kennedy stricken – 911 called!

Senator Ted Kennedy who is being treated for brain cancer was rushed by ambulance to a Cape Cod hospital after a 911 call was received from the Kennedy family compound in Hyannis Port.

According to Barsnstable, Massachusetts police Sergeant Ben Baxter said the 911 call was received around 5 PM today.

Kennedy had a seizure in May, and then underwent surgery for brain cancer in June for a brain malignancy.  After weeks of chemo, his public presence has been felt – including a memorable speech at the Democratic Convention.

A shaky Teddy had welcomed Chilean President Michelle Bachelet at home on Tuesday.   President Bachelet awarded Kennedy her country’s highest civilian award in recognition of his opposition to Chile’s 1973 military junta coup and his efforts to cut off aid to the dictatorship.

Sgt. Baxter said Teddy was "alert and responsive" during the trip to the ER.

Kennedy’s office issued a statement that the hospital trip was due to a change in medications and said the Senator would be home shortly.
