Regis Philbin may have signed a new contract to stay on Live — but his co-host Kelly Ripa is still pushing for her husband to fill Reege’s shoes!
Insiders revealed that after Regis signed his new $60 million deal, the perky 35-year-old blonde demanded her husband Mark Consuelos, 34, be made a permanent guest host when Regis, 74, is off.
Said a source: “When it appeared that Regis might not re-sign, Kelly felt that a show featuring her and Mark could bring even more ratings. She wasn’t jumping for joy when Regis re-signed, but she still wants to get Mark in there.”
Although Live‘s reps wouldn’t discuss Kelly’s demands, executive producer Michael Gelman told The National Enquirer: “Regis and Kelly have an unmatched chemistry.”
