KATIE COURIC has put her dream wedding to investment banker John Molner on indefinite hold after the two squabbled over the prenup!
Sources say the TV veteran, 56, is determined to protect her reported $55 million fortune if she splits from Molner, who’s said to be worth $20 million.
“Katie and John started butting heads over how to separate their finances just weeks after they got engaged,” said an insider.
“She wants him to sign a pre-nup, but he’s resisting.”
The bubbly former “Today” show host – whose first husband, Jay Monahan, died of colon cancer in 1998 – accepted Molner’s romantic proposal over Labor Day weekend, despite the 50-year-old divorced dad’s checkered romantic past.
As The ENQUIRER reported, Molner two-timed Katie early in their relationship with 27-year-old Jessica Hsu, a colleague of his at the financial firm Brown Brothers Harriman. “Many of Katie’s friends think John is bad news,” said the source. “But as soon as he proposed, Katie began interviewing caterers, lining up a wedding planner and shopping for a wedding dress.”
After Katie’s daughters – Ellie, 22, and Carrie, 17 – begged her to make John sign an ironclad prenup, she finally saw the light, said the source.
“Katie told John she wants to keep their finances separate and she wants monetary compensation if he cheats on her,” said the source.
“John exploded. He claims that he’s a self-made man with money of his own and thinks a prenup is a bad omen for their future.
“Now Katie is rethinking the relationship, and she’s put preparations for their wedding next summer on hold.”
A rep for Couric denied there is any change in wedding plans and says there is no fighting between the couple, adding that the story is “laughable.”
