Jordin Sparks was named the new American Idol on Wednesday, May 23. The 17-year-old Arizona native was crowned champion at the Idol finale at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles. Jordin beat out Blake Lewis, 25, known for his beatboxing style.
Past Idols including Kelly Clarkson, Ruben Studdard, Carrie Underwood and Taylor Hicks performed at the finale along with Gwen Stefani, Tony Bennett, Bette Midler and others.
