JOHN WAYNE DEFAMED

description

TRUE GRIT remake duo The Coen Brothers arrogantly slam movie icon JOHN WAYNE, saying he didn’t deserve an Oscar.

Wayne, who is cemented in pop culture as a legend both on and off the screen was attacked by the writing/directing team who did a virtual shot-by-shot redo of the classic 1968 oater.

And The Big Lebowksi helmers told The Hollwyood Reporter that Jeff Bridges didn’t give a (hoot) about stepping into the Duke’s shoes.

"Jeff kinda didn’t care –. The one person who might have been put off by it," Joel Coen told the Tinsel Town tab. "He just kinda didn’t give a sh*t.

"A lot of people might take umbrage, but I’m not sure that was the iconic performance of John Wayne. To think of it as iconic largely because of the Oscar is a mistake," Ethan chimed in.

"John Wayne was fantastic in other movies," Ethan continued.

"He learned about acting by watching his horses… People think of him lumbering around and leading with his gut, but he was graceful."

While the "new" True Grit is a hot favorite for an Oscar nom, side by side comparison of the films shows the 1968 original is just that – an original.

And the remake — a pale reflection.

AND Jeff Bridges is NO John Wayne no matter how hard he tried.
