JOHN EDWARDS WEDDING WAR!

JOHN EDWARDS’ mistress ignites ugly family feud as she demands their love child attend the wedding of John’s eldest daughter CATE!

And the disgraced two time presidential loser has joined the battle – pushing his late wife Elizabeth’s family to let 3 1/2-year-old Frances Quinn be a flower girl at the October nups.

“Elizabeth’s family is furious at the mere suggestion of it,” divulged a source close to Edwards.

“Rielle is insisting that their daughter is innocent in all of this and that she should definitely be a part of her half sister’s big day. She wants Quinn to get to know John’s children better – and what better way than at a huge family gathering.”

And in exclusive ENQUIRER pics, Rielle, 47, appears perfectly comfortable in her role as the mom of Edwards’ love child, escorting the adorable little girl to school in Charlotte, N.C., in early September. “Quinn cried outside of the school when Rielle was ready to leave her on the first day,” an eyewitness told The ENQUIRER.

Meantime, proud papa Edwards brought up the idea of Quinn being a flower girl during a family conference to plan Cate’s wedding, revealed the source.

“While Cate was open to it, her mother’s family was dead-set against it,” explained the source. “They said if John’s illegitimate daughter was present, it would be a huge slap in the face to Elizabeth’s memory.
“The clash has opened the old wounds at a time when the focus should be on Cate.”

The 29-year-old daughter of Edwards and Elizabeth is an antidiscrimination lawyer in Washington, D.C. She’s set to walk down the aisle with physician Trevor Upham on Oct. 22 in North Carolina.

But a dark cloud was looming over the wedding until 58-year-old Edwards got a favorable court ruling.

His trial for illegally using $925,000 of campaign funds as hush money to hide a pregnant Rielle during his 2008 presidential run has been delayed until January 2012.

Edwards’ defense team was granted the postponement after explaining they needed time to comb through more than 400,000 pages of material turned over by the government.

“John did not want to have to deal with the trial at the same time Cate was getting married,” said the close source.

“He wanted her wedding to go off without a hitch, but now Rielle’s request to have Quinn play such a prominent role has brought back all the bad blood between John and his in-laws.

“Elizabeth’s family will never forget how she died brokenhearted because of his selfish behavior. They refuse to let John’s actions tarnish Cate’s big day.”
